Damien Hirst...

Interesting article in the Independent that says, "just months after the success of a ground-breaking sale at Sotheby's that brought him nearly £100m, Hirst has described the art market as over-priced, and welcomed the prospect of selling his work at cheaper rates in the present climate of recession." I guess art really does reflect the times.

I'm going to the MCA this week to see the Hirst exhibit, and I'm really looking forward to it.

For the Love of God

Thanks to this tip from C-monster, I stopped by Z Gallerie at Cherry Creek on my walk over to the bank today and picked up my very own Damien Hirst knock-off. And for $25 ! That's about $100 million dollars cheaper than the original! It's approximately life-sized (death-sized?) and made of some resin/metal finish combination. Shiny skulls are not my typical decor aesthetic, but it's good to mix it up I suppose.
