I found this photo at the flea market last weekend too. The back says "B-52 and escorts" - it reminded me of paintings like this:

Found Photo - Alaska Brown Bear

I got this at the flea market on Sunday. The back has the f-stop and shutter speed listed as well as the date (4/15/46) and the title or caption, "Alaska Brown Bear".

Loch Lomond, Colorado

We went up to Loch Lomond - on the other side of St. Mary's Glacier near Alice, Colorado on Saturday. We've been up there numerous times, so we can say with confidence that this is a really good time of year to go. The road to the lake isn't open yet so there were very few people. It's a moderate hike up to the first lake (about 45 minutes to an hour) and a little longer up to the second lake where I took this photo.

Rule Gallery - Editor's Choice for Top of the Town 2010

In the current (July) issue of 5280 magazine, the Editor's Choice for "Top of the Town" Art gallery went to Rule. They write,

"Ask 100 people for their favorite art gallery, and you'll get 100 different answers. But if you enjoy art for its sheer simplicity, you won't be disappointed at Rule. Specializing in minimalist work, this gallery on Broadway showcases—at most—two dozen pieces of contemporary art, both local and national, every six weeks. Opening tonight!

Objectophilia opens tonight from 7-10pm featuring 44 artists - many from Denver including some of my favorite local artists like Bill Amundson, Justin Beard, Patti Hallock, and Sarah McKenzie. It is partnered with the Biennial of the Americas and the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver on Delgany St. Read more about it on their facebook site and their blog.

New Alexander Binder works

Exposure

Yesterday I went to the Denver Art Museum and took a second look at the newly displayed photography show called "Exposure". It's a really worthwhile show covering a wide variety of subjects, time periods, and processes. Greg Cradick from Denver's Working With Artists recently wrote a long review on his Eye on Photography blog - read it here. My personal favorite in the show is Petah Coyne's Untitled 735:

Mention on Lost at E Minor

Lost at E Minor posted my work recently and wrote,

Ghost Towns and Mining Ruins

One of our favorite things to do on road trips through the mountains is go to ghost towns. We've been steadily checking off towns from the Ghost Towns of Colorado book over the last few years. I put most of the better photos together in a flickr set:

We took a long road trip through a couple of ghost towns (St. Elmo, Ironton) and camped in Ridgeway, Colroado. We also spent some time in Ouray, and a night outside of Silverton on the banks of the beautiful Molas Lake. Take a look through the photos (34 of the better ones from the trip).
