Jessica Hans is selling prints of these three images as small-run and very affordable grayscale goodness - just $25 and $35 each - ppd. She writes, "I'm selling off a very small selection of prints that are in conjunction with my new Golden Dawn series. The three images are available signed, in a very limited edition, all on 175 gsm acid-free uncoated paper. Sales will partially help fund my move to Baltimore in the next two weeks. Wilhelm Sasnal in Warsaw

One of the great things about the internet is that you can see art shows from all over the world. I know that seeing them online is an approximation - but to be able to see several works by Wilhelm Sasnal from a show in Zacheta, Warsaw while sitting at a computer in Denver - that's pretty amazing. Re-Routed Overnight

There's a fascinating post on blast walls in Iraq at the Subtopia blog. These blast walls are often installed under cover of darkness, and the post called "In the Business of Blast Walls" features several eerie night-vision photos of the construction process. Check it out.

"Super" Tuesday

To celebrate "Super" Tuesday - check out this great, constantly updated flickr group called "Obama Street Art". According to the admin of the group, "This group is not an official endorsement of any presidential candidate by any of the parties involved, and is in no way funded by or affiliated with any presidential campaign. Think for yourself and vote." Regardless of your political affiliations, it's interesting to see politics in street art in a positive manner. There's no shortage of anti-Bush street art - so political-art positivity is refreshing.

New Website!

In aproximately two weeks my NathanAbels.com website will no longer be with earthlink and will cease to exist in its current form. Nathanabels.com will still exist as a domain but it will now be hosted on a wordpress blog site. I combined the capabilities of wordpress and flickr to make a nice new site with lots of new information that will be much easier for me to update. I now have images from recent exhibitions - with press links, installation photos, and images from the pieces I had in each show. Take a look around and tell me what you think!

Light Glares

I put together a small collection of some sun/light glare photos of mine. I'm a big fan of this pictobrowser application that works with flickr. Really easy to use and highly recommended.

Bird Imprints on Glass

While browsing flickr yesterday I came upon the most unusual photo group; "Bird Imprints on Glass". Currently there are over 80 photos in the group, and all of them feature the impact of a bird (usually pigeons) against a glass window. I realize this is somewhat morbid, but there is a beauty to the patterns left by the last moment of each birds life - and the amount of detail that is captured in some of these impressions is astounding. Audubon estimates that "about 100 million birds die each year in collisions with buildings and skyscrapers in the U.S. and Canada alone."

In somewhat related news, check out windows live maps - where you should click on the "birds-eye" view. This point of view is a twist on the google maps and is actually much like what I see while doing aerial survey photography. It is so detailed that you can actually see people on the ground. You'll get that wide-eyed wonder you got the first time you saw aerial views on google maps.
