Jenny Holzer on Twitter
This is kind of old news, but we were talking about her in class today so I thought I'd share. Twitter is the perfect extension of her work.
Tuesday's statement was, "DECADENCE CAN BE AN END IN ITSELF"
And if you're wondering - no, I don't twitter.

Music for Your Studio; Vol. 10
Two short ep's today, hope everyone's enjoying the Wednesday music posts:
Ernest Gonzales - Chasing the Sungreat quality laid back beats - free ep download courtesy of exponential records. Great vinyl fuzz on "Aquarius." Recommended - especially if you liked the Diego Bernal album from a few weeks ago.
EP "Viandanze" from the Italian pianist Fabrizio Paterlini. It consists in 4 piano solo songs and is a small preview of the entire full LP album that will be released during 2009.

It's getting to be warm enough for someone to deliver this bicycle to my apartment building in time for all my springtime cycling. Afternoons are usually a good time.

Even You Leave
”When you start working, everybody is in your studio - the past, your friends, enemies, the art world, and above all, your own ideas - all are there. But as you continue, they start leaving one by one, and you are left completely alone. Then, if you’re lucky, even you leave.”
Musician John Cage talking to painter Philip Guston, quoted in his daughter Musa Meyer’s book Night Studio

Music for Your Studio; Vol. 8
ryonkt - the world that was surrounded by a deep forest and warm light
This week's music selection is another great Creative Commons licensed free AND legal download by the artist ryonkt. It is a very minimal ambient work that evokes the warm feeling you might imagine by reading the title of the album. It is quiet and meditative, but doesn't become monotonous or dark in its tone. To me it sounds like music that might accompany those scenes in movies where the light of the sun washes out the image.
